Sunday, August 24, 8:00-10:00 p.m., the Plattes McDonough Project Presents “Grappelli, Ellington, and More” with Jim Plattes, violin, harmonica, and vocals, Larry McDonough, piano and vocals, at Aster Café, 125 SE Main Street, Minneapolis, MN 55414
Violinist Jim Plattes and pianist Larry McDonough bring their new show “Grappelli, Ellington, and More” to the Aster Café. In the first set, they will celebrate the collaborations of legendary French violinist Stéphane Grappelli with Duke Ellington, George Shearing, Claude Bolling, and Oscar Peterson, from recordings such as Skol with Oscar Peterson, The Reunion with George Shearing, First Class with Claude Bolling, and Duke Ellington's Jazz Violin Session. In the second set, they will perform a mix of originals and more contemporary music.
Families and students are welcome.
