Sunday, April 30, 10:20 a.m, Mostly Music Service, saxophonist/writer Richard Terrill and pianist/composer Larry McDonough, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato, 937 Charles Avenue, Mankato 507-388-1904, http://www.uumankato.org/. They will read essays and perform a selection of familiar tunes and original compositions for each of the seven Unitarian Universalist Principles: (1) The inherent worth and dignity of every person; (2) Justice, equity and compassion in human relations; (3) Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; (4) A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; (5) The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; (6) The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; and (7) Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Monday, May 1, 7:00 p.m., The Return of “Born to Be Kind of Blue: The Music of Chet Baker and Miles Davis,” with the Larry McDonough Septet, Larry McDonough, piano and vocals; Steve Kenny, trumpet; Richard Terrill, tenor, soprano and poetry; Jeff King, alto and bari; Carol Bergquist, flute; Greg Stinson, bass; and Dean White, drums; at the Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant, 1010 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, 612-332-1010. Families and students are welcome. $10.

May is a good month to remember Chet Baker and Miles Davis. Miles was born on May 26, 1926 and Chet died on May 13, 1988.

LMS will play one set of Chet and one set of Miles, including all of the recording Kind of Blue. $10 cover. Come to the Dakota for the return of “Chet and Miles” and see and hear why.

This show filled the Dakota three times last summer. Plan ahead and reserve a table.
