What:

First music, followed by small group reading and discussion on Paul Wellstone’s book, “Conscience of a Liberal,” and then more music.

Wellstone Action has launched The Wellstone Civic Dialogue Project, a national reading of Paul Wellstone’s book, “Conscience of a Liberal.” On Thursday, February 5, 2004, thousands of people in communities across the United States gathered to begin a discussion Paul’s book and to share their own ideas about how to move our country in a more progressive and humane direction.  On this night we will continue the discussion. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to read the book, which serves as the starting point for the discussion.

Larry McDonough knew Paul for 20 years, playing at his events and working on progressive issues in his other job, a public interest lawyer.  McDonough’s second CD of jazz piano and voice, "Tuscarora: Short Stories for Jazz Piano," is dedicated to the memory of Paul and Sheila, benefits Wellstone Action.   Larry will perform before and after the book club, and organize guests into small groups to read and discuss the book and the issues before us.  Come, read, think, discuss, and take action!
