bassist in Bemidji, Dr. Patrick
Riley is a professor of music
at Bemidji State University,
where he heads the string
faculty. He studied at the
Peabody Conservatory,
received a graduate degree
with honors in cello
performance and pedagogy
from The American University,
and holds a Ph.D. in musicology from The University of Iowa. Pat is an active chamber musician and has performed with Baltimore, Minnesota, Hartford, St. Paul Chamber, University of Minnesota, and Northwestern University Orchestras. At Chicago's American Conservatory of Music, Pat was the Director of Graduate Studies and regularly performed with the American Conservatory Trio and String Quartet. He's also a fine jazz bassist, having gigged regularly in the Chicago area, and around Bemidji with the Bemidji Big Band, the Bemidji Jazz Quartet, and the Steve Hirsh Trio.
