Are you tired of the same old holiday music? Do not worry!

Larry McDonough will perform music for Seinfeld’s fictional December holiday “Festivus for the Rest of Us” that involves Airing of Grievances, Feats of Strength, and the labeling of easily explainable events as Festivus Miracles, along with odd takes on holiday tunes from the CD Angels, Kings, My Favorite Things, and jazz based on rock classics from their recent CD Alice in Stonehenge and other AcoustElectric Adventures.

Festivus and other twisted and odd holiday tunes from the CD “Angels, Kings, My Favorite Things” make up the first set, but as Andrea Canter noted, this is “not your mother's holiday album.... Spending the holidays with Larry McDonough is like the best of family reunions--getting reacquainted with relatives who seem so different from how we remember them, and so much more interesting.” Expect a mix of music from Bill Evans, Coltrane, Beethoven, Mr. McGoo, Paul Simon, Ornette Coleman, Shakers, and the Middle East, along with uncommon meters, harmonies and rhythms. They also will perform McDonough’s arrangement of “It’s Love, It’s Christmas,” a rarely performed piece written by jazz pianist Bill Evans, based on a copy of the original Evans’ manuscript given to McDonough by Evans’ widow, Nenette Evans. Minnesota Book Award Winner Richard Terrill adds season poetry.

The second set will include material from the recently release two-CD set, Alice in Stonehenge and other AcoustElectric Adventures, which includes a mix of Tony Bennett, Chet Baker, La Marseillaise, Spinal Tap, Brubeck, Sting, Prince, Clapton, Led Zeppelin and originals. Richard Terrill adds jazz poetry. “Fans of Larry McDonough will find no significant disconnect between the two discs comprising Alice in Stonehenge. Those encountering him for the first time who are generally drawn to acoustic music will likely be surprised by how much they enjoy the melodicism and energy of the electric disc.  And vice-versa: Those generally favoring electronic pop and rock will find themselves drawn to the romantic verve of the acoustic set. It's trite to say there's "something for everyone." More accurately, everything here is likely to appeal to music lovers of all persuasions, because every track brings a timeless tune delivered by steadfast talents--acoustic or electronic.” Andrea Canter, JazzInk.
